In 1941, the authority bought around 470 acres of extra land and started constructing the new runways. It was funded by Work Progress Administration.

And in the year, 1942 Army Air Corps made its first plane landing in the new airbase.

By the year 1943, the airport changed to an Army Air Corps Lockheed P 38 Lightning training base along with a Northern American P51 Mustang operating base.

After the war ended this site become one of the renowned amongst the five large storages, scrapping ad sale centers.
